First Post Jam Update
The Purple Tower » Devlog
The best part of participating in a game jam is getting lots of constructive feedback. The Purple Tower got a lot of feedback! It was one of the highest commented on games. I think that is thanks to the visuals and promo images used, which is supported by the voting. The Purple Tower did relatively well in graphics, but there was a ton of great criticism too. During the voting period, I took some time to work on some of the most requested changes for this post jam update.
Player Movement
The most commented on aspect of the game was the controls. So much so that there are several things tweaked for movement.
Changes:
- The player character now moves more evenly without any easing
- The time to move is shorter
- Added on-screen movement controls
Enemy Targeting
The spiders now turn to face you properly before attacking.
Better Combat Feedback
Improved the overall feel and feedback of the combat
Changes:
- Added a model for the Weapon
- Animations for hits and misses
- Sounds for the player swings and spider misses
